My first day as a TV ‘extra’….and it means a 6am rise to get to the BBC’s River City studios in good time for a 7.45am call. Ouch!
I make good time and arrive in time to grab a roll with flat sausage (Lorne!) and haggis before we have our wardrobe check and role call.
There’s quite a few folks I know on the ‘extras’ call, probably due to the fact there’s a few musicians involved…Gina from the Fort Theatre in Bishopbriggs, singer Heather Innes of Caim who I haven’t seen in yonks and mucker Johnny Guitar.
It’s an action filled-day…and let’s say “a baptism of fire” for yours truly.
We finally wrap at 7pm and Margaret picks me up…a hasty drive home for our pal Throsten’s birthday dinner. Fiona and Steven have cooked a splendid seafood casserole and the wine and chat’s flowing. We have a quick Skype link up with Barbara who’s in Australia at the mo’…shame we have another 6am rise!!!
