Just one of the amazing views from our off piste adventure

ANOTHER nice day…and I’m not long awake when Martyn calls to see if I fancy a walk.

I do. So after breakfast i get some stuff done before he rolls up at midday. Our plan is to walk a bit of the John Muir Way from Burncrook reservoir to Balloch. Or something.

Louise drops us off and we start walking. We don’t have much of an idea where we’re going and after a mile or so the path comes to an end and we walk cross country. It;s hard going…heather clumps, bumps, ditches and holes. The dog is even more knackered than we are!

To cut a long story short it’s hard work, we get a bit list, walk ten or more miles up hill and down dale over some of the hardest ground we’ve ever covered. We don’t get to Balloch and end up going back to Burncrook in a very roundabout way. It’s tough but fin and we get some amazing views. Sadly the ‘map my walk’ app on my phone must’ve lost it’s GPS signal a few times, so the record of the walk is inaccurate and doesn’t really give us much of a clue of where we went.

It’s tough but fun. Louise comes to get us, we grab some beers and go back to our place and sit in the sun. Margret’s made some scones too 🙂

Once Martyn and Louise have headed home I’m not feeling much like doing any work so I have some more beer, chuck a pizza in the oven and we veg in front of the telly. I’m gonna be sore tomorrow. In fact, I’m sore now!

A hard walk but fun all the same
