CONSIDERING it was such a late one last night, everyone’s up at a reasonable time…it’s like the party’s still going on – except with a breakfast theme!
Bagels, donuts, salmon, eggs, quiche and all sort of stuff. And an endless stream of good coffee.
We’ve a 200-mile drive to Chicago, so leave around midday and hit the road, stopping at a Culver’s along the way. Double mushroom Swiss burgers. Amazing.
It’s almost 5pm when we roll up at our pals Nan and Mark’s where we’re staying the next couple of nights.
Great to catch up then we make for the venue and drop into a wee Mexican place for some grub….a Korean beef burrito bowl does the trick for me. Margaret has quesadillas.
Back at the venue we meet booker Tony who opens up the show. Things are quiet to start with as one of the Chicago baseball teams – the Cubs – is playing the world series. And it’s approaching hallowe’en. With are a big deal here.
Some pals start to arrive and the crowd builds and although the PA is a bit lacking, we end up having a great show.
It’s 2am when we get back to Nan and Mark’s and hit the hay.
