UP early and after breakfast at the old mill we say cheerio to Françoise and hit the road.

Not straight home, though – first we want to stop off at the festival village/site and bid farewell to all our friends.

By 11am, we’re on our way to Le Havre…a few hundred kilometres closer than Calais and same ferry price – and although the ferry ride to Portsmouth is a good four hours longer than Calais to Dover, we can rest and prepare ourselves for the overnight drive home.

We board the ferry around 5pm and have something to eat then doze for a while.

It’s 10.30pm by the time we clear customs and on our way, sharing the drive home home with a few stops to change over and final stop at the supermarket in Glasgow. We roll up home around 7.30am and go to sleep….
