WE make breakfast then I sort some web stuff for a music pal’s website.
As 11am checkout approaches we tidy up, pack the car and make for Germany. Geldern, to be precise.
It’s not far tho’ – just an hour or so’s drive. We stop at the hotel – Schloss Walbeck – booked for us by the festival. It’s an old castle and although we’re early they’re happy to check us in.
We arrive at the festival site around 2pm and are given a warm welcome and shown where to park. Organiser and booker Wolle shows us round the site and introduces us to various folks and we’re given a huge pile of vouchers for food and drinks.
After a snack from the BBQ stand we load the gear in and chill for a while until soundcrew Marcus and Jena get me sound checked and ready to play.
Nearly two hours of sweat, whisky and hi-jinks later I’m done and get the stage clear for the next band – Juke Joint Pimps – and sign some merch.
More food and beer, then a great firework display then the losing band – Country Cooking before we say cheerio and Margaret drives the three or four kilometres back to our hotel
Been a grand day and night – and first class hospitality 🙂
