WE’RE off into Glasgow early again…I drop Margaret off and make my usual stop-off at McDonalds for coffee and wifi.
I’ve a bunch of stuff to do for our pal Rab’s website and some other things then I hit the shops to pick up some gifts for folks before picking up Margaret to take her for her hearing test courtesy of Help Musicians.
While she’s not a musician, she plays a crucial role in my live performance by liaising with sound engineers and, when needed, taking over the sound duties herself. Help Musicians has a scheme where folks can have a top flight hearing test and have custom ear moulds made for personally attentuated ear plus for just £40 (£30 for Musicians’ Union members).
While she’s in the studio I drop into the Scottish Music Centre and drop off some sweeties and a Christmas card for the good folks there.
After Margaret’s hearing test I drop her off (again!) and go about some more business before returning to get her and heading to the Hug & Pint for tonight’s MusicPlus showcase.
I’m a mentor on the MusicPlus scheme for 14-19 year-olds…and it’s great to see some of the participants getting a chance to play live in a proper venue.
We have something to eat then go downstairs to the venue and enjoy performances from six solo acts. I’m on driving duties so lay off the beer and we’re back home soon after 11pm.
