THE alarm goes of at 3.30am….we have a coffee, pack up and take the car to the airport ‘meet & greet’.
Margaret found the ‘meet & greet’ package offering a night at the airport hotel in Manchester and a fortnight’s parking for £120 – pretty good deal!
The Lufthansa check in guy is happy for us to take the guitars on board and everything goes smoothly.
Once on the plane, though, we’re told there’s a 40-minute delay in leaving because of fog at Frankfurt…and we only had an hour to make our connection for the L.A. flight…it’s gonna be tight!
We race off the plane and run to our gate, making it with about 90 seconds to spare before it closes! It’s a busy flight tho’ so the guitars are checked at the date and go in the hold.
We’re in a middle aisle, in the middle two seats…and I have a fucking weirdo beside me for the next 11-1/2 hours.
At LAX the guitars are three – but our big case is missing. We report it and hope it’ll be delivered to our AirBnB tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.
Our pal Jim and his wife Lusing meet us at the airport and drive us to our AirBnB – it’s over an hour’s drive in crazy traffic. Not only that, but after dropping our stuff, they take us to a supermarket for some supplies. Extremely kind of them 🙂
We’ll see Jim at NAMM and probably my House of Blues Show – Lusing has eye surgery tomorrow, so we won’t see her ‘til after the Morro Bay show when they’ve very kindly offered to put us up for what will be our last night in LA.
It’s just after 5pm when we settle down, open a beer and gave some chips and guacamole – by 6pm we’re in bed. Shattered.
