WE SLEEP in a little, but still on schedule to get the car into Glasgow for an MoT by 9am.
Once the car’s dropped off at our guys in Maryhill we walk into town. Margaret’s getting her hair done and my plan is to sit myself down in McDonalds with a coffee and my laptop to get some work done.
I’m still engrossed in stuff when Margaret calls at midday to say she’s finished at the hairdressers and making her way along to meet me.
We’ve got some vouchers for free coffee and cake at John Lewis which seems a reasonable way to spend the time while we wait for a call to say the car’s ready.
Margaret has a look round the shops while I walk back to the garage and collect the car. No problems with the MoT thankfully!
Next stop, shopping around the usual places an we’re home just before 6pm.
There’s some kind of problem with the WooCommerce shop on my website. I’m getting the payments and notifications from Paypal OK, but the emails with customer and order details aren’t coming through…online orders up until this morning have been fine, but a couple came in this afternoon without the ‘details’ email. It’s not the end of the world, for if a Paypal payment notification comes in I can log into the back end of my website and retrieve the order/customer info but it’s a bit of a pain to have to do that.
By co-incidence (or not!) a pal whose website and online shop I set up a few months ago emailed me over the weekend to say she was having the very same problem. During downtime over the weekend I spent a good while checking settings, code and stuff and couldn’t find a solution and planned on investigating things further tonight anyway.
A few hours later after extensive changes and testing I’m no further forward. Eventually some of my online trawling throws up that Paypal is testing a new certifcation process that could affect the way the payment gateways work. There’s a chance that the hosting company I use hasn’t made necessary changes to work with the new certification and that could be causing inconsistencies in the communication between servers, mailservers and stuff.
I raise a support ticket with the hosting folks….
