iPhone charging/lightning socket loose? Try (carefully) picking out fluff and debris from the socket with a non-metallic implement like a split tooth pick…

THERE’S an email from the USA car rental folks with a bill for $15 for a $1 toll violation…after the carry on sorting out our EZpass electronic toll tag when we picked up the rental car I’m more than a little annoyed.

I log into my EZpass account and send them a note. I doubt it’ll get much joy, though, as I can’t see the rental company back-tracking even if the the violation wasn’t our fault.

My iPhone hasn’t been charging properly for a while. I thought it was a loose connection in the lightning socket so check out some online videos and find that it’s a common problem caused by a build up of pocket lint (fluff to you and me!) in the socket. I split a cocktail stick (better not to use anything metallic), carefully poke about a bit and pull out a bunch of debris. Bingo! Charger plugs in nice and snug and works first time 🙂

I get online and cancel my Genius Bar appointment at the Apple Store now that the problem’s solved.

Once I have some other jobs out the way I pick up Betty’s paper and wander along for a coffee with her and Joe.

Back home I tackle one of my least favourite jobs – clearing the gutters. the house and the studio. The ladders aren’t quite long enough but I fuddle around and manage to get the job done without breaking my neck.

In the studio I restring my guitars for this weekend’s shows – Tenbuy Blues Festival on Friday and Clarks, Dundee on Sunday then hit the doctor’s in the village to see about my plantar fasciitis. He’ll refer me to the physio.

Next job is writing a piece for my pal Dave who looks after Resolution Magazine – a music production publication then we go along to Betty and Joe’s for dinner. It’s nice to catch up and relax a little.
