I really love the Lyric Room in Green Bay, WI

WE say cheerio to Ken and start the drive to Green Bay – it’s only a couple of hundred miles, but most of it is on small country roads.

Before checking in to the motel we stop at a Festival Foods and pick up some supplies for later

At the motel, Margaret had planned to watch Andy and Jamie Murray play tennis, but the match isn’t being shown anywhere, not even the app she subscribed to the other day. She makes do watching another match and watching the live scores coming from the Murray boys’ game which, unfortunately, they loose.

I fancied a nap, but have a video to do for guitar studio in Glasgow, so I spend the time finishing that off.

My soundcheck at the Lyric Room is 7pm. Our pal Scott H Biram is finishing his soundcheck when we load in and we have a good blether. Been a while since we played together…and, although he’s based in Austin, Texas, this is the first time we’ve shared a bill in the USA. Many times in the UK tho’…

Soundcheck go fine and once all the merch and stuff’s sorted we chill until doors . Another bunch of pals – The Ditchrunners – are also playing so we hang out with them for a while then it’s showtime. Last time I played the Lyric Room was five years ago on my 50th birthday and these guys were playing too 🙂

My 45-minutes passes in a frenzy then I get to relax and enjoy the rest of the night. Quite a few folks we know in for the show….and I drink way too much beer.

By 2am we’re back at the motel where I make a sandwich and crash minutes later…

Great to catch up with our pals The Ditchrunners…
…and booker Tom (left) and Scott H Biram.
