PENULTIMATE show of the tour this evening at Dark Horse Brewery in Marshall, Michigan.
I get the usual emails, social media and ‘day of show’ promo done before we leave Bellefontaine, Ohio.
We’ve a few hundred miles to go and stop in at a Culvers – easily the best ‘fast food’ burger place of all – for a mushroom and swiss butter burger. These guys could kill it in the UK. Just saying…
Arriving in Marshall we check into the hotel. Kristy at the Dark Horse has booked us into the beautiful National House Inn just a few blocks from the brewery.
We load in at the Dark Horse where Eric is ready to get me set up on the big stage at the back of the compound. My set is at 6.20pm…someone’s playing on the front stage as I set up and there’s a great buzz – toady is the annual Chicken Wing Thing festival. Nice to be part of it.
It’s incredibly hot and I’m sweating buckets before I even start my 90-minute set. The sound is good…and there’s a nice crowd around my stage including pals from Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo.
After the show we sell some merch and load out…taking a break to share some of the Smokehead love with our pals.
We take the gear back to the hotel and go for some dinner with Peter, Sue, Doug, Micki and Al.
Peter and Sue drop us back at the Dark Horse in time for us to catch The Hooten Hallers‘ amazing set to close the day.
We’re pretty subbed by the end of it all and wander back the few blocks to our hotel. A wee dram then bed….final show of the tour tomorrow (Sunday) in Chicago…
