UP early to get to the airport. My flight to London City isn’t ’til 8.55am but I wanna be there by 8am and I’ll allow an hour to get there.

The travel is uneventful until I board the wrong DLR train at City Airport and end up at Stratford instead of Bank. I bumped into an old colleague I hadn’t seen in 20 years and was too busy blethering to her to pay attention to the train.

It’s not too big a diversion and I’m still on time for my meeting at Musicians’ Union HQ on Clapham Road. I spend a few hours discussing issues around live performance and enjoy lunch with everyone.

My flight back is at 6pm and I’m home by 8.30pm. A bit of a whirlwind day!
