FROM the moment I get up I’m on the case with the hosting company.

I take a break mid-morning when one of my ‘in-person’ guitar students arrives and giving. Guitar lesson is a welcome distraction form the techie nightmares.

There’s no significant updates from the web hosting company support folks, so I hit the kitchen and prepare some Asian-style burgers for tonight. A bit of an experiment, really, as we have some budget bun style bar buns to use and I thought it’d be fun to try and make an Asian-influenced burger to have in at the bar with quick pickled cucumbers, hoisin sauce and spring onion.

Instead of usual seasonings – which include Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, copped chives and mustard powder I add some soy sauce, rice wine and seasoned rice vinegar. The resulting patties look, and smell, good – we’ll see how they work out later.

We’re planning to cook pizza tomorrow night, so while ;m in the kitchen I rope pare a batch of dough to ‘cold groove’ in the fiord for 24 hours. It’ll come out early tomorrow afternoon, be portioned into balls and allowed to rest at room temperature for five hours before we can use it.

By early afternoon there’s no sign of the mattress so Margaret calls again. The driver os definitely on his way…today’s excuse is that the driver ‘ran out of miles’ yesterday. Wonder which, if any, excuse is true.

An hour or so later the mattress arrives and the driver is helpful, friendly and takes the cardboard cover away for us. We pull the old mattress out and put the new one on the bed.

I get some more work done before Martyn arrives in the van and we get the mattress int he back, stop off to pick up another he needs to get rid of and take ‘em both to the dump.

Back home I fire up the grill for the burgers, steam the buns and stick some chips int he air fryer. The burgers look and taste great, but the texture is really weird…I think the rice vinegar has fucked them up a bit. I’ll lave that out next time. And make them slightly smaller…they’re waaaay too big!
