I HAVE a bit of a long lie. After two days of 5am to the wee hours I think I’m allowed 😉

My mid-morning Zoom session with a guitar student is done from the house as the studio is a mess of photo gear. Plus my laptop and other stuff is in the house from my late night photo editing session last night.

WIll asked me if I could make some vintage style leather wrist guards for his glassmaking, so my first job it taking the measurements of his wrist/forearms and making them into something workable. After a few trial and error efforts using paper mockups I decide on a deign and get the leather cut and engraved.

New stock of the wee black flasks arrived yesterday and I have a couple of outstanding orders which get made up. There’s also some stuff to be made for the shop in Drymen in time for the late night Christmas shopping evident next week.

Mid-afternoon I take a break and make some spinach pasta dough and let it rest for an hour or so while I get on with some more work. Once the dough is cut into tagliatelle-type pasta I make a sugo with Italian sausage and leave it to simmer while I tidy up the studio and set up for another Zoom guitar student. Both of today’s sessions were moved from their usual Monday slots.

A message comes in asking about some of my photos from the last couple of days. There’s a concern that some sessions weren’t documented. It takes me a couple of hours to go through everything and granted, yes, a couple of them have only a few images – but the agreed number of images to be delivered each day couldn’t possibly include every speaker from every session…especially as the priority, they instructed, was the networking events. I had to make a judgement call on the selection of photos that made the final quota for each day…if the speakers were dull and lacked any dynamic they were likely binned in favour of those that made for better images. I go through the remains of the rejected (by me) images…a lot had to be deleted as the photo libraries were becoming unwieldy and unworkable… but I find a handful extras to send the client. It’s quite clear from the subjects why these were omitted from the final selection.

I’m kinda frazzled and a little stressed after that…and it’s nearly midnight. I’ve been avoiding alcohol Sunday to Tuesday/Wednesday, but I need a nightcap!
