Carnitas!

THERE’S a bit of a rush to get out the shower, have breakfast and tidy up before my regular Thursday morning guitar student arrives.

Looks like she’s running late, though, which is unusual. When she’s ten minutes overdue I check my text messages and see that when Margaret messaged her last week on my behalf when I was sick, she said I’d be in touch. For some reason I thought it had just been rescheduled for this week.

I give my student a call, apologise for not having been in touch and arrange to pick things up again next week.

Margaret’s away Christmas shopping and lunching with Catriona and I get busy with some new product ideas in the office. I’d hoped the shelving units would have arrived today (as promised!) but looks like it’ll be tomorrow, so I have to work in the mess again.

My early Black Friday heads up to my mail list and Wildcats’ Facebook group has paid off and there’s a bunch of orders to be sent off…some go in the postbox and some booked in for collection.

Jeanetta pops round at lunchtime to try on some hoodies and luckily I have one the correct size. We chat for a while then she goes on her way.

I spend some time creating some Black Friday posts for my own merch and some local posts encouraging folks to order anything from West Highland Way Gifts sooner rather than later to make sure they get them in good time for Christmas/posting.

In between times I make some tortilla dough for tonight’s tacos – the coarse corn masa I discovered recently makes the best tortillas yet!

Suddenly it’s dark – and it’s getting cold. I chop some firewood and bring in wood from the woodshed.

Margaret gets back from her day out and we take a walk along to see Betty and Joe for a wee while.

It’s 11pm when the carnitas are finally ready and we relax to watch the latest episode of Succession.
